Open for postgraduate presenters at Gothic Crossroads
Last year Manchester University Press (MUP) established an annual Gothic Prize to be awarded annually at our Gothic Centre summer events. The prize is £100 worth of vouchers to spend on MUP books, to be awarded to a postgraduate (MA, MPhil or PhD student) attending our summer event. This year any postgraduates presenting at the conference are eligible to enter.
To enter into the prize competition, please complete a book review (of up to 1000 words) of a critical book on Gothic or horror studies published in the last five years (2020 onwards). Please write in the style of a book review for an academic journal, assessing strengths and weaknesses of the book and its contribution to Gothic/horror studies. You can write about an edited collection or a monograph (but remember it has to be a non-fictional critical book, not a novel, poetry collection or other form of creative writing).
Submission Instructions
Please submit your entries to our Gothic Centre email address: gothic@mmu.ac.uk by midnight (your time zone) on Wednesday 11 June. The winning entry will be announced and awarded in our closing plenary session on Friday afternoon (27 June) of the conference.
