Gothic Film Club, the Resurrection!

We are pleased to announce the resurrection of the Gothic Centre’s Film Club, spearheaded by our fantastic PGRs.

The first rule of Gothic Film Club is you DO talk about Gothic Film Club. So, if you are an English Studies PGR (PHD or MA) at Manchester Metropolitan University and you want you want to satiate your blood thirst for horror and Gothic films from across genres, periods and spectrums, then please come along to our Autumn screenings.

The club is run by MCGS PGR Rebecca Alaise and International Intern, Simon Scothans and this semester there will be two films showings; at the Cineplex in Manchester and at the SODA cinema, on MMU campus.

  1. Ghostwatch. On Thursday October 30th, we will make our way over to Cultplex to attend the 19:30 showing of the classic BBC pseudo-documentary Ghostwatch. Originally aired on live TV, the film details an investigation into the supernatural, hosted by Michael Parkinson, that does not exactly go as planned. Interested? Then sign up by Monday 20th of October via the link below! The Manchester Centre for Gothic Studies will cover the ticket cost of the first 20 students to sign up.

  2. An Ecoweird Horror TBC. On the 30th November at 6pm, we will be showing an Eco-Weird Horror selected our Gothic PGRs. This is a free viewing at the SODA Cinema but will also require sign up. More info to follow.
